FACTS ABOUT THE HOOVER DAM:
It was originally named the Boulder Dam, but the name was changed in 1947 in honor of President Herbert Hoover.
It was built between 1931-1936.
Over 3,000 workers were used in the construction during the height of the Great Depression.
Lake Mead provides water for Nevada, Arizona, and California.
The dam was a major feature in the 2007 movie "Transformers".
